Dunbar Wharf Transformation

Dunbar Wharf's piazza planting suffered badly during the very hot summer in 2003 and also due to a serious vine weevil infestation.

The first task for Foxes Boxes was to remove all the affected plants and treat the soil for any remaining vine weevil eggs and grubs.

We then added new soil to the boxes to bring them back up to the correct level for planting.

Once this had been achieved new plants were selected to retain the formal style, bring more colour into the planting scheme and also some winter flowering interest but, at the same time, not block the river views from resident's own terraces.

Finally, after re-planting, a bark mulch was added to help retain moisture and prevent weeds.

Foxes Boxes now maintains the Dunbar Wharf piazza and the intention is to continue to shape the topiary into balls, cones and spirals where appropriate and to maintain the golden euonymus as a low growing hedge.
