Plant Minders
So how does it work?
The plant minder consists of a plastic ball that acts as a water reservoir and a porous terracotta cone. When planting up, the cone is positioned in the soil next to the plant roots. The ball is then filled with water and positioned on top. Then that’s pretty much it. Plant roots naturally move towards moisture and they are attracted to the terracotta and wrap around it. They are able to take the amount of water that they need from the porous cone and so this removes the guesswork and the worry of over or under watering. The plants simply look after themselves. All you have to do is keep an eye on the globe and once it is empty simply refill. One fill of the globe can last around 3 weeks or more depending upon the weather conditions and the size of globe. Liquid feed can also be added to the water to keep plants healthy and flourishing.
The hanging basket ring acts in the same way with a section of porous terracotta pipe instead of a cone.
